Grosso (Silver, 20 mm, 2.18 g, 6 h). •PE•GRADONICO• / DVX / •S•M•VENETI• St. Mark, on the right, standing facing, holding book of Gospels in his left hand and presenting banner inscribed DVX to the doge Pietro Gradenigo, on the left, standing facing and holding the 'ducal promise' in his left hand. Rev. Christ, nimbate, seated facing on decorated throne and holding book of Gospels with both hands; below his left elbow, annulet; to upper left and right, IC - XC. Biaggi 2794. MEC 12, 1081. Montenegro 65. A beautifully toned example with a fine pedigree. Nearly extremely fine.
